Upper Limb Centre “the shoulder Folder"
The Upper Limb Centre was established in 2003 to provide patients throughout Lancashire and Merseyside with access to seamless, high quality clinical care for a range of conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow and hand. This care starts from the first point of contact and extends to post-operative and long-term follow-up. Since 2003 the Upper Limb Centre has practiced at Euxton Hall Hospital in Chorley, Fulwood Hall Hospital in Preston and Renacres Hall Hospital in Southport. All the above hospitals are part of the Ramsay Healthcare Group.
The Centre is committed to continuing to develop and embrace new surgical techniques in order to provide the highest possible standards in patient care and we are continually reviewing the techniques used and any new develpments A multi-disciplinary team has been brought together to provide the skills necessary to achieve these goals. The team is lead by Mr Peter Hughes who has overall charge of patient care. All clinicians working within the Upper Limb Centre have hold NHS Consultant posts in the Lancashire area. Team members working with them include Consultant Anaesthetists, specialized in anaesthesia for upper limb surgery, orthopaedically trained nursing staff and Chartered Physiotherapists. There are also Consultant Radiologists on-site, with expertise in soft-tissue ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging techniques.
The surgeon is supported by a dedicated theatre team and administrative staff. The surgical options are comprehensive and matched to individual needs. The focus is on conservative and restorative techniques using arthroscopy where possible. The selective use of joint replacement surgery is available if required. Treatments are primarily based at Euxton Hall Hospital in Chorley. Mr Hughes also sees and operates on patients in other local private hospitals. These include Renacres Hall Hospital in Southport and Fulwood Hall hospital in Preston. Click on an image of an individual unit for more information. All our Hospitals have an RMO on site 24 hours a day to respond immediately to any medical situations that may arise. The centre is suitable for patients with shoulder, elbow and hand problems. All surgery is audited and outcomes measured in order to improve the quality of service we provide and develop new techniques for future application.
This website has been constructed and is maintained by Mr Peter Hughes and information displayed principally reflects his own practice. The purpose of this website is to facilitate the treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions with in the catchment areas of both Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the Upper Limb Centre. Treatments obtained at all these units are equivalent and information held on this website is equally relevant to both sets of patients.
